AIBA Lab
AI & Business Analytics Lab @ KAIST College of Business (Seoul Campus)
Welcome to the AI & Business Analytics (AIBA) Lab at KAIST College of Business, led by professor Donghyuk Shin.
We study where AI and technology work in business, where they don’t, and what they change. Our research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence and information systems, producing causal and computational evidence on the impact of AI and IT across digital platforms, healthcare, education, and technology-driven markets. We work with industry and public-sector partners to study AI in real-world contexts. Our methods combine econometric causal inference, field and lab experiments, and AI/ML model development.
Research Areas
Economics of AI/IT
- What actually happens when AI and IT enter firms, markets, and public-facing systems? We study the economic, behavioral, and societal consequences of technology adoption, including how humans collaborate with, adapt to, and are reshaped by intelligent systems.
- Keywords: causal inference, field/lab experiments, human-AI interaction
AI/ML for Business Applications
- How can AI/ML methods be developed and applied to solve business problems, and where do they fall short? We build and rigorously evaluate models for tasks ranging from demand forecasting and link prediction to behavioral simulation.
- Keywords: agent-based social simulation, agentic AI, generative AI, deep learning
Digital Platforms and Information Ecosystems
- How do platform design and policy shape user behavior, content ecosystems, and market outcomes? We analyze the dynamics of digital platforms, including information quality, content governance, and competitive and social effects.
- Keywords: misinformation, content moderation, AI-generated content, social media
